The convoy rules are designed to ensure that the members of a trip keep together and don't get lost. Although quite simple it is surprising how hard some people find keeping it.
How does it work?
Keep your position in the convoy.
Keep the vehicle immediately behind you in sight. Flash your
headlights, put on your hazard lights or call on your radio to stop the vehicle in front of you if the vehicle
behind you is no longer in sight.
At a fork or intersection stop in a position which makes it clear to the following vehicle which road to take. It is not sufficient just to call up on the radio "Take the next left" - there could be another side track you have not noticed.
At a closed gate the driver of the second vehicle is responsible for opening the gate and closing it after the convoy has passed through. He or she then rejoins the convoy at the rear or in front of the "Tail
End Charlie" if one has been designated by the Trip Leader.
On the open road spread out and keep left to
allow room for faster non-club traffic to pass in safety.
